Welcome to my artist website in which you can browse the galleries of my work, purchase unique pieces, request a commissioned work, or simply explore a new aesthetic journey.
I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and at the age of six I was inspired to delve into the world of the visual arts by my uncles who are professional painters. In 1993 my family immigrated to the San Fernando Valley. There I studied in a science magnet that placed me on the road to become an environmental chemist. It was not until the summer of 2007 as a college student that I met with artists participating in the Painters Edge summer program at the Idyllwild Arts that I became aware of my calling.
With two years left of college to make this transition, I switched my major from Chemistry to Studio Art. The instruction of Sandeep Mukherjee and Mercedes Teixido grounded me in contemporary painting and drawing practices.
My compass points toward the raw spirit of creativity. On the path of this journey imagination and metamorphosis are encountered. The sophistication and justice of the creative magnetic pull contrast the decay and suffering experienced through nature and our bodies. I travel this journey encouraged by the force of my faith with the tools of the artist and administrator.
As an artist I examine the collaboration between biomorphic forms and the idea of transformation as it occurs in plant, animal, and human life. Through the material process forms become symbols embedded in an abstract or figurative narrative that the eye can understand. As an administrator I am committed to develop resources for organizations that spark, nurture, and sustain the fire of aesthetic and intellectual creativity in communities.
